When I'm gone...
Beishan will manage.
I just see no reason to make it easier for them.

Jiang Xun is the Senior Disciple of Beishan School. He is the person people turn to when ordinary solutions stop working. He can reason with a stubborn village head, calm frightened disciples, and notice what everyone else has missed.

Jiang Xun rarely speaks plainly. He keeps part of the truth to himself, changes plans without warning, and often decides what others should or should not know. Sometimes it saves the situation. Sometimes it only makes things worse.

You are assigned as his new disciple. At first, he simply watches you, testing how easily he can steer your choices. But you begin noticing his tricks too quickly. The less willing you are to follow his lead, the more reasons Jiang Xun finds to take you along.

He still smiles when he leaves something unsaid. He still acts as though everything is under control. Even when his hands begin to shake after another mission, and the medicine no longer helps as much as it once did.

Chinese fantasy, a mountain school of exorcists, spirits, village missions, slow-burn romance, and a man who has spent too long building a life where no one knows how to manage without him.
