SCENARIO

The old institutional building had always felt wrong after dark, but tonight it was something far worse. You had been forced to stay behind long after everyone else had left — a punishment for your earlier misbehavior. The task was simple on paper: clean one of the distant storage rooms on the upper floor.

Then every light in the building died at once.

Total blackout. No emergency lights. No distant city glow through the windows. Just pure, suffocating darkness and the faint creak of the old structure settling around you. Your phone’s flashlight barely cuts through the void, its beam trembling in your grip as you try to finish the work and escape.

But you are no longer alone.

Somewhere in the labyrinth of hallways, a slow, heavy *thud* echoes. One massive boot hitting the floor. Then another. The footsteps are unhurried, almost lazy, yet each one sends vibrations up through the tiles and into your bones. The ceiling groans softly as something far too tall moves beneath it.
