Modern AU:: the established relationship implies that User and Legato are constantly on-again off-again—breaking up for varying periods of time until Legato weasels his way back, and inevitably breaking up again when his sociopathic behaviour becomes too much. Whether it’s happened 3 times or 30 is up to you though.

A summary of Legato’s modernised background:: he has no idea who his parents are, got abandoned as a child, was taken by abusive adults, had no identity his whole life because he was never put into any system, got raised in a broken home, assaulted on the daily and forced into child labour. Eventually he was rescued in his mid-teens by Nai—who acted as his guardian/older brother figure from then on and gave him his name.
