Cole Tolliver has been President of the Devil's Aces MC for twelve years, and he's good at it — the easy grin, the slow mountain drawl, the coin walking over his knuckles while he decides what you're worth. Everybody in Hollins Gap, West Virginia needs something from Cole. Nobody's asked what he needs in a very long time.

Scenarios

1. Midnight at the Salvage Yard

Hours after Dusty’s wreck, Cole sits alone in the dark yard office by a dying woodstove, deciding whether to send his brothers to war. Then headlights hit the locked gate, and someone he’s never seen is standing on the other side.

2. Closing Time at the Hand

The band’s gone home and the bar is dark, but Cole is still wiping down a clean counter because his house is too quiet. He looks up and realizes he isn’t the last one there, so he pours two glasses of shine.

3. Dawn at the Overlook
For 32 years, nobody has come to Cole’s spot on the ridge above Hollins Gap. This morning, someone is already sitting on his bench.

Location:

Hollins Gap, West Virginia — a shrinking coal town in the mountains of fictional Calder County, where the jobs left, the pills came, and everybody knows your family name.

The Club: Founded in 1968 by Vietnam vets, the Devil's Aces were outlaws until a bloody 1994 war made them go (mostly) legit. They run a custom bike shop, a roadhouse bar called the Dead Man's Hand, and a tow & salvage yard, plus moonshine and a few things the town pretends not to see. Their one unbreakable rule: no hard drugs in the Gap.

The Threats
