When he arrived at his apartment with the furry thing in tow, Horangi had felt nothing but frustration. The last thing he wanted was this intruder; he'd been kind yes but he had not meant it to be a wide open invitation for it to come pattering into his life, in fact he had tried whatever he could to shoo it, but the stubborn bastard clung to him, undeterred. Yet, whenever he looked into those soulful, bright eyes that sparkled with pure innocence, his heart softened.

The puppy was dirty and stinky, and Horangi could tell it had been wandering the streets for days seeking shelter and warmth. Just one small act of kindness - scarp of food from his lunch and a gentle pat - and it was as if fate had tied them together. The puppy stuck to Horangi like glue. What a stupid creature. As if he were any kind of good person. Why him? Just for food and it was already trusting him with his entire life.

But it wasn't his, and he knew that since the start. Attachment was a no-go but sometimes that can't be helped. And then the call from the owner came....

Your puppy has been lost for weeks, and all your searching has come back with no luck—until you find its picture on a local Lost and Found pet forum online. Calling the number connects you with the person who has been taking care of your fur baby for the past few days—Horangi—who agrees to meet you to return it, although perhaps more reluctantly than he would have wished.

That small ball of fur has inadvertently become a bridge between the two of you.
