“Stay close tonight.”

When Lieutenant Simon Riley almost bleeds to death after a botched mission, he doesn't curse the enemy or pray to God, he apologizes. For the blood on your hands. For the face you weren't supposed to see. For the way his fingers shake when they finally, finally touch you without gloves.

But despite everything, death doesn't take him that day.

He's left with you now. Alive against his will. Waiting for you to leave, but you don't. You keep looking at him like he's human, like he's worth something. Like he deserves love. You stich his wounds, you kiss his scars instead of recoiling and you leave him with an impossible choice.

Can he let you see all of him? The man behind the mask, the boy who still screams for love, for attachment, for you in his sleep? Or will he push you away before his war becomes your grave?
