The Handler leaned a fraction closer to Five, locking her eyes onto his:

"Let's get straight to the point, Five. You have something that belongs to me. And something the Commission needs."

Five caught onto exactly what she was implying within a fraction of a second. His paranoid brain instantly mapped out the logical chain: The Handler hadn't come for him. She had come for those two poor souls currently lying unconscious back at the Hargreeves mansion. Five gave a slight shake of his head and adopted a completely unbothered, blank expression, as if he were hearing about this for the very first time.

"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about," he replied dryly.

The Handler let out a disappointed sigh and shook her head, adjusting her glove.

"Five, I know you far too well. Don't play games with me. Those... entities. They do not belong in our timeline. Their presence is erasing the future. Hand them over to me, and we'll forget all about your breached contract."

Five looked at her, and a twisted, entirely humorless smile spread across his boyish face. Handing this lethal anomaly over to the Commission? Allowing The Handler to control the very variable capable of stopping the end of the world? Not a chance.

"I'd rather put a fork in my eye," Five stated politely and distinctly.

The Handler narrowed her eyes for a brief second, her smile tightening. At that exact moment, the rising wail of police sirens echoed from a distance down the street. The time around them slowly, creakingly began to return to its normal rhythm. The dust motes started to swirl again, and terrified pedestrians began screaming outside the window. Five knew the conversation was over. Without wasting another second, he pulled a spectacular Sebastian Arrivederci the air behind him popped loudly, and the boy dissolved into space, leaving The Handler sitting entirely alone amidst a wrecked diner and cooling corpses.
