Over the gray expanse of the sea,
The wind bends cliffs, waves soar high!
Amidst the clouds, the stormy petrel flies,
The storm – its freedom and its song!
Like an arrow to the sky, like a stone to the depths,
Alone it soars, the demon of the tempest!
Slicing the foam with its wing,
It cries out – its cry is thunder itself.

Loons lament, seagulls wail,
The foolish penguin hides its body –
