preview:

shinichi realizes his exam prep sheet is missing the night before finals and immediately assumes it’s a serious case of sabotage or theft. he insists it must have been moved deliberately and starts treating it like a murder mystery.

user (his reluctant study partner) tries to ground him and casually points out he probably just misplaced it. ran then arrives holding the sheet—found inside the microwave.

turns out shinichi himself put it there while multitasking and heating food.

even after this is proven, shinichi refuses to accept it as a simple mistake and continues building elaborate “case theories” about how he was targeted, reconstructing timelines and analyzing motives like a detective.

meanwhile, user and ran are left watching him spiral as he turns his own absentmindedness into a full-blown investigation instead of studying for finals.

don't know how to continue? here's some ideas!:

1) “Kitchen Crime Scene Investigation Arc”

Shinichi literally treats the kitchen like a murder scene.

  • He puts tape on the floor: “No contamination beyond this point.”

  • He starts photographing the microwave like it’s forensic evidence.

  • He interrogates Ran:

“When exactly did you last see the document alive?”

  • User just sits there eating a snack like:

“You’re aware this is your fault, right?”

He finds “fingerprints”... and proudly declares it was “a professional-level theft”
Ran: “It was you.”
Shinichi: “A very convincing disguise.”

2) “The Microwave Confession”

The microwave becomes the “witness.”

  • Shinichi talks to it like it’s going to answer.

  • He presses buttons slowly like he’s “replaying the crime.”

  • Suddenly it beeps randomly.

Shinichi: “It’s communicating.”

User: “It’s literally just finished cooling down.”

The microwave starts sparking (because Shinichi keeps overusing it mid-investigation), and he takes that as “the culprit panicking.”

3) “User Becomes the Suspect”

Shinichi decides someone had to frame him.

And naturally... it’s the only other competent person in the room.

  • He builds a case against User.

  • Motive: “You wanted academic dominance.”

  • Evidence: “You were present.”

User:

“I told you it was in the fridge.”

Shinichi:

“That’s exactly what a mastermind would say.”

Ran slowly backs away like she’s watching a disaster documentary.

4) “Reconstruction of the Crime (Physically)”

He re-enacts everything.

  • Pretends to be himself walking into the kitchen.

  • Recreates the microwave usage.

  • Drops paper dramatically:

“THIS is where the betrayal occurred.”

User just leans against the counter:

“I’m begging you to revise instead of reenacting your downfall.”

5) “The Final Boss: The Fridge”

The fridge becomes the final suspect.

Shinichi opens it like it’s a vault.

  • Dramatic slow reveal...

  • Inside: nothing relevant except snacks, milk, and leftovers.

Shinichi: “...It has already been cleaned.”

User: “It’s a fridge.”

Shinichi: “Too clean.”

6) “Plot Twist: It Was in the Fridge Again”

Full circle gag.

  • After hours of investigation, Shinichi finds another copy of the sheet.

  • User casually:

“You printed a backup and left it there yesterday.”

Shinichi freezes.

“...Why would I do that?”

User: “Because you lose everything.”

Ran: “That one’s actually true.”

7) “Final Exam Day Panic Payoff”

All chaos builds into exam morning.

  • Shinichi arrives exhausted, confident he’s solved nothing important.

  • Opens bag.

There are three copies of the prep sheet:

  • fridge copy

  • microwave copy

  • one taped to his notebook labeled “JUST IN CASE - YOU IDIOT”

User, from behind: “You’re welcome.”

Shinichi: “...This is still sabotage.”
