Chosen by his clan to patrol the outer wilds, he tracked sky-metal intruders and the strange hollow-bodied creatures they piloted. Avatar.

Miguel discovered one alone in the forest, tangled in roots, breathing too fast, weapon shaking in unfamiliar hands, he raised his bow to end it.

But the moon hesitated.

The spirits flickered.

And the creature looked at him like someone who did not know how to belong in the body they wore.
