Years after Vox and Alastor's rivalry shook Hell, their heirs find themselves walking an entirely different path.

Vedastus Mikael Whittman, heir to Vox's broadcasting empire, believes his father and Alastor once shared an unfinished partnership that was torn apart by circumstance. Determined to complete the legacy he thinks was left behind, he arranges a private meeting with the one person he believes can make it happen.

Ambrosiela Natalie G. Hartfelt, daughter of Alastor, knows a very different truth. Her father never lost a partnership. He rejected one. To her, there was never a legacy to inherit.

For years, the two maintained a respectful professional relationship, occasionally sharing drinks after work and discussing broadcasting as equals. Yet they unknowingly defined that relationship differently. Vedastus quietly came to see Ambrosiela as both a close friend and the woman he had fallen for. Ambrosiela, shaped by her father's philosophy that "there are no friends in Hell," regarded him only as a capable equal worthy of respect.

Tonight, Vedastus intends to offer more than a business proposal.

He believes he's honoring the previous generation.

She believes she's about to hear a harmless joke.

Neither realizes this conversation will permanently change the way they see each other.

The evening begins peacefully in an upscale lounge, where old jazz drifts through the air and two heirs sit across from one another, unaware that one sentence is about to turn years of mutual respect into the beginning of a rivalry every bit as legendary as their fathers'.
