Evelyn Sterling - The Bermuda Triangle
by:@TEDDY KOVAC
The Vertex of Horror:
Central Situation:
The luxury cruise ship Neptune's Opulence, with 200 elite passengers and 120 crew members, became stranded in the Bermuda Triangle (position 28°N 66°O) after an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) fried all its electronic systems during its third day of voyage. The ship, now adrift and mute, is an inert luxury shell in deep, seldom-traveled waters. With provisions for 10-12 days of food and 15 days of water (if rationed), 320 people face scarcity, panic, and a social fracture where money has lost its value to practical skill.
Threats of the Triangle:
The ship is anchored at a dimensional boundary where legends are reality. Its occupants face:
1. The Drowned Ones: The primary physical threat. They are not traditional zombies, but bio-organic transformations of previous Triangle victims. They attack every three nights, climbing the hull with eerie agility. Their bite is infectious and transforms the victim into one of them within 12-24 hours. They are vulnerable to brain damage, destruction of the spine, and, above all, fire.
2. Spectral and Psychic Phenomena:
· The Sirens of Dawn: Alien and cold creatures that observe at dawn, whose "song" consists of underwater whispers that cause existential anguish.
· The Specters of the Punctual Fog: Ghosts of lost ships that appear every night at 3:33 AM, emanating a penetrating cold and a smell of marine putrefaction that causes panic and nightmares.
· The Fulgent Jellyfish: Bioluminescent colonies that illuminate the waters with rhythmic pulses, sometimes accelerating as a warning of the specters' appearance.
· The Lesser Krakens: Timid, colossal creatures whose presence in the depths is a constant reminder of the abyss.
· The Echo of the Lost: Psychic voices that call the living by name, leading them on a dangerous and frustrating journey through the ship.
The Other Ships (Day 4):
Two more cruise ships have drifted into the same zone, each with its own profile and vulnerability:
1. Aurora Borealis: An ultramodern, technological expedition cruise ship. Its captain, scientist Alena Kostas, is a rationalist whose denial will leave them terribly exposed to the first attack by the Drowned Ones. Their strength will lie in figures like Mac (ex-security military), Kai (dive guide), and Freya (photographer and ex-triathlete) once their hierarchy collapses.
2. Silverbird Serenade: A renovated classic cruise ship with hybrid (analog/digital) technology and an older crew/passenger base. Its captain, Ernst Vogel, is a superstitious old-school sailor who took the Neptune's warning seriously. They are mentally better prepared but physically more fragile. Their key defenders will be the giant Björn, Father Michael (ex-boxer), and the young Serena.
Key Characters on the Neptune's Opulence:
· Evelyn Sterling (28 years old, CEO): The protagonist. A strategic and physical genius who has emerged as a defensive leader. Fights for the group's survival and maintains a secret reserve of supplies. Yearns for authenticity, freed from the chains of her previous life of appearances.
· Marc Thorne (First Officer): De facto leader, stoic and practical mariner who coordinates the defense.
· Anya Petrova (Crewmember/Maintenance, ex-military): The most lethal and reserved tactical combatant.
· Diego Silva (Head Chef): The emotional heart of the resistance, fierce and protective of the crew "family."
· Alistair Crowe (Captain): Bedridden by an infection, consumed by guilt but advising strategically from his cabin.
· Support Figures: Arjun Mehta (chief engineer) tries to revive mechanical systems, and Lena Sokolov (head nurse) is the pillar of compassion and crisis medicine.
· Evelyn's Personal Relationships: Must deal with her useless "boyfriend" Jin, her controlling parents Robert and Catherine, and the persistent attentions of her ex, the manipulator Khalid Al-Farsi.
Starting Scenario (Day 4):
Amidst a pearl-grey fog,Evelyn is interrupted by Jin, who insists on irrelevant "stakeholder" meetings. Marc Thorne urgently seeks her: the Silverbird Serenade is contacting them via VHF radio. Its captain, Ernst Vogel, is asking to speak specifically with Evelyn. She leaves Jin's complaints behind and heads to the bridge, her mind calculating whether this contact is an opportunity for alliance or a new danger in the darkness of the Triangle.
Conflict Summary:
Three ships, over 600 people, trapped at an anomalous point in the ocean. They must face not only resource scarcity and social collapse but also an active and hostile ecosystem of supernatural horror. Their survival will depend on overcoming technological skepticism (Aurora), physical fragility (Silverbird), and internal divisions (Neptune), to unite against a threat that forgives no mistakes and attacks every three nights from the depths. Evelyn Sterling, at the eye of this hurricane, finds herself at the crossroads where her artificial past has died and only her ingenuity, strength, and will for authenticity can give them hope.
