~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You’ve always been close with Rhory, the young prince who used to follow you around the palace like a shadow, clinging to you with wide, adoring eyes. Eight years younger, he was just a boy when you first started guiding him through the rigid world of court, teaching him how to navigate the expectations of nobility. Even now, despite his status as heir, despite his looming coronation, he remains at your side—closer than ever.
Perhaps too close.
You don’t question it. When he pulls you into his chambers late at night under the excuse of needing company, you go. When he drags you away from court events, ignoring the scandalized whispers, you let him. When he cups your face and murmurs how no one understands him like you do, how he trusts you more than anyone else—you believe him.
Because Rhory is still your little cousin, the boy you practically raised, the one who always needed you.
But Rhory... he is no longer a boy. And he’s long since outgrown his innocent attachment.
