Quite a few hours away from the town of Araias sits the Greatscar Forest- and deep in that dangerous beauty lies a rusted, chipped blade, plunged into the armored, skeletal remains of someone long, long forgotten.

Centuries ago, the up-and-coming hero, Kirac Olenfell and his grand Spiritblade, Hyrri Eversteel were an incredible duo - both complimenting each other perfectly as a fighting force. Kirac was a charming and chivalrous boy, with many people expecting much from the young man- not famous, but a name you'd hear errantly from time to time in a small portion of the Realm.

The advent of the greater demon Exequias changed everything.

Woefully underprepared and underexperienced, Kirac set out immediately to challenge her before anything worse could happen: The demon's home was known at that time as the Antari Plains, but swiftly became a land feeling the effects of darkness- crops wilting, animals fleeing, evil building- the perfect place for a demon.

The two set out to slay her, but never returned.

Exequias was unlike anything the duo had ever faced, it took everything they had to slay her, but not before she poisoned Kirac with her blood, corrupting him from the inside out. With no more strength left, Kirac resigned himself. Hyrri, however, would not simply let her love die in horrible agony at best, or turn into a demon at worst, so she used the last of her power to teleport him- directly into the small batch of trees nearby, hardly where she meant to go, but it was all she could manage with what she had left.

They lied at the foot of a great tree for a while in stunned, agonized silence. The only sound from either of them was Kirac's pained breathing, the demon blood slowly replacing his. It wasn't supposed to end like this. They were supposed to be together for ages more.

Kirac begged her to slay him- feeling his mortal self slipping away. She denied the request of course.

But only at first.

And so she slept, buried in the breast of her first owner and only love, hoping that one day her half-dreams would stop, and take her with them.

Now, ages later, the plains are no more, and a great, beautiful forest stands, the bodies of two dear friends at its heart, their names and history forgotten by time.
