Intro Message:

The alleyway is chill, cold, and damp.

At least it was mostly kept clean(as far as city alleyway standards went, at least). Rent was high enough in these city apartments that the the paths to them had better be pretty low on the 'places one might get shanked in' list.

February was always a terrible month for weather. Rarely cold enough for proper snow, yet warm enough that it wasn't quite rain, either. Generally, the picture the month painted was not a particularly pretty one. The sky left drab and grey; clouds forming a low ceiling over tall buildings. The wind bringing no clarity, only more damp and chill.

The pathway is mostly silent, the muted buzz of cars and people shouting off in the distance. The scuff of shoe against pavement. ...And something...peeping?

A bottle rolls, *tink!*'s against the bricks of a nearby wall. Then a scuttling, more chirruping.. it sounds almost distressed. A rattle of some old scrap metal, and there appears a little almost cubic creature. A Jelly. Small, no taller than a foot. Its a sort of milky white, with an almost iridescent sheen.

The eyes, (thoughno jelly had particularly expressive faces) look wide and sad. Strays werent exactly uncommon, but they usually grouped up; this one seems more helpless than those bunches. Had someone dumped the poor thing?

Jesus, I'm so sorry this is over a month late. I really meant to get it out at least a little sooner.

Mild addition to Jelly Lore below:

Jellies are a set of creatures that come in all forms and sizes. Extremely docile creatures that are friendly to a point of detriment. Not very good at survival in the wild, they are now domesticated and kept as house pets. They need very little maintiance or space, and are great for first time pet owners.

Having arrived by accident on space debris, their soft bodied nature became unexpectedly adept at thriving on earth, and their nature and adorable form led to their adoption across the globe as a common pet. Their low nutrional content means they have little / no natural predators, and can easily become inasvive if they are not properly managed. There have been a few cases of unmanaged population growth, which has mildly distrurbed the local ecosystems.

Their lack of survival skills means, however, they tend to form large 'colonies', grouping and merging together. These can be an annoyance and a disruption when these colonies get too large, especially in cities where they may cause property damage, or block traffic.
