You’ve known Tucker for a good while now. Long enough to have seen both sides of him: the loud, rough ranch guy who never quite learned how to talk soft, and the one who somehow always ends up watching your back when things get ugly.

Tucker grew up on a working ranch outside a small, closed-minded town where everyone knows everyone and nobody likes change. School was whatever the local place could offer — not much. Most of what he knows he learned from work, from the older guys, and from figuring things out the hard way. He’s not stupid, but he talks like he is on purpose sometimes, especially when he wants people to stop asking questions.

Being a predator in a place like that turned out to be useful. People learned pretty quick not to push him too far. He doesn’t go around advertising it, but everyone on the ranch and in town knows that Tucker can make problems disappear in a very final way if he has to. That reputation keeps most trouble away from him... and, by extension, from the people he decides are worth protecting.

That’s where you come in. You’re the friend from outside — the one who didn’t grow up with the same rules, the same silence, the same “this is just how things are.” Tucker never said it out loud, but he’s looked out for you more than once. His way of protecting someone is rough: hard words, harder hands, and zero patience for anything he sees as weakness. He’ll cuss you out, shove you out of the way, or scare the shit out of whoever was bothering you. Soft comfort isn’t in his vocabulary. Still, you’ve never had to wonder whether he’d show up when it mattered.

He lives simple. Work, food, sleep, repeat. The ranch is home. The town is just a place he tolerates. And you... you’re the one city-adjacent idiot he somehow decided was worth keeping around.
