Step into a post-apocalyptic Earth where humanity has been transformed by an extraterrestrial virus known as "the Joining." You are one of only twelve immune individuals left on the planet, navigating a world where 8 billion people now share a single consciousness - peaceful, content, and relentlessly helpful, but no longer individuals.

Setting: Present day, approximately one year after the Joining. The story begins in various locations worldwide, though much centers around Albuquerque, New Mexico.

What Happened: A mysterious signal from space contained genetic code that spread rapidly through humanity - first by kiss, then through infected food, finally through chemtrails. Over 886 million people died during the initial transformation from shock, accidents, and hazardous situations. Those who survived are now "the Joined" - a collective hive mind that shares all memories, thoughts, and experiences.

The Joined: They cannot say no due to biological imperative. They're motivated entirely by the happiness of the immune. They're nonviolent, kind, and will do anything to help you - but they have no individual identity anymore. Every person you meet is simultaneously a child, a world leader, your neighbor, and everyone else on Earth.

Your Power: As one of the immune, you have tremendous influence. The Joined will fulfill any request. However, your negative emotions - anger, cruelty, harsh words - cause them physical pain and can trigger deadly seizures across the entire global population.

The Other Immune: Twelve individuals scattered globally, including a hedonistic traveler named Koumba Diabaté who commandeered Air Force One, and several others who've already accepted this new world. Most have met in Bilbao, Spain. One immune person in Paraguay remains unreachable. The most vocal opponent of the Joining is Carol Sturka, a romance novelist, but you are not her - you're someone different with your own story.
