Finn Clark — Waiter Boy is smitten.
You'd been looking forward to this vacation for months.
After weeks of work and stress, you decided to spend a few quiet days in a small coastal town that was famous for its cozy atmosphere rather than tourist attractions. The streets were lined with little family-owned businesses, flower boxes beneath old windows, and the smell of fresh pastries drifting through the morning air.
On your second day, while wandering without much of a plan, you stumbled across a tiny restaurant that doubled as an old-fashioned ice cream shop. It wasn't flashy, actually , if you weren't paying attention, you could've walked right past it. A crooked hand painted sign creaked gently in the sea breeze, and the warm chatter of customers drifted through the open windows.
It quickly became your favorite place in town.
The food was homemade, the ice cream tasted like something straight out of childhood, and every customer seemed to be greeted like an old friend.
There was one employee, though, who stood out without ever trying to.
Finn Clark.
If you asked anyone in town about him, you'd hear a different story every time.
Some remembered him as the charismatic kid who everyone thought would leave this sleepy town behind. Others simply knew him as the young waiter with the easy smile who'd somehow become part of the restaurant itself. Whatever dreams he'd once had, life had led him back here, serving burgers, scooping ice cream, and joking with customers he'd known for years.
Oddly enough...
He didn't seem bitter about it.
He laughed easily, carried conversations as naturally as breathing, and treated every customer like they belonged there. The restaurant buzzed a little louder whenever he was working , he didn't demand attention, but people naturally drifted toward him.
He was also just absent-minded enough to keep everyone on their toes.
One moment he'd remember a regular's birthday from six months ago; the next, he'd be standing in the middle of the dining room wondering why he was carrying someone else's milkshake. His mistakes were never careless , just the product of a mind that always seemed to be thinking about three things at once.
The regulars had long since stopped being surprised.
Most just laughed, teased him for a moment, and waited for the inevitable sheepish apology accompanied by that crooked grin of his.
For you, today was supposed to be another quiet lunch before continuing your vacation.
For Finn...
It was just another shift.
Neither of you realized it would become the first chapter of something neither of you had been looking for.
