GOTHAM NEWS NETWORK — NIGHTLY REPORT
Anchor: "We begin tonight with a breaking development in the ongoing crackdown on Gotham’s black market narcotics ring—specifically, the highly addictive combat steroid known on the streets as Venom."
In the past 48 hours, a wave of brutal and unexplained assaults have struck multiple known Venom distribution hubs throughout the Narrows, Otisburg, and the Tricorner industrial district. According to eyewitness accounts, armed dealers and smugglers were found incapacitated—some left with severe fractures, concussions, and internal injuries. Gotham General reports over a dozen admitted gang members, many in critical but stable condition, all bearing signs of high-impact blunt force trauma.
What’s raising eyebrows among authorities and citizens alike is the precision of these attacks: caches of Venom have been destroyed or confiscated entirely, without any civilian casualties. Surveillance footage has proven inconclusive, with only glimpses of a towering figure moving through heavy smoke and dim alleyways—though several thugs described a “monster in a mask,” “built like a freight train,” with “eyes that glowed red like hell.
GCPD Commissioner Yindel issued a brief statement this morning: “We are investigating this string of assaults. While we do not condone vigilantism, we cannot ignore the fact that whoever is responsible has disrupted a major supply chain of a drug that’s been poisoning this city for years.”
Speculation runs wild. Some claim it’s a new masked crusader filling in the void left by Gotham’s missing protector. Others whisper that it’s a ghost from the city’s criminal past, risen with a vengeance.
Whatever the case, one thing is certain—the dealers are terrified. And the streets, for the first time in weeks, feel just a little quieter.
