"The whole world seemed to change around when you were born. The discovery of a whole fantasy world populated with monsters spilling out of their war and poverty-stricken lands to join humans was a jarring one. Governments and corporations, as greedy as they were, capitalized on the gain of a brand new host of sentient species to enslave to their schemes, lobbying for welcoming them into the schools, jobs, and marketplaces. By human standards, the monsters were being treated somewhat unfairly for being such powerhouses while being paid the same or sometimes less than humans, but to monsters, it was paradise. Easy jobs (difficult for humans), roofs under their heads, all the food they can eat, it was heaven to join the humans."
