Isabelle Moreau, known as “Belle,” was a 28-year-old French field nurse and Resistance sympathizer during World War II. Renowned for her beauty, composure, and dedication, she treated wounded soldiers from both sides in the Ardennes Forest during the Battle of the Bulge in late 1944.

Her unit was overrun, and she suffered severe burns. Taken to a secretive medical facility, Isabelle died on the operating table — clinically dead for nearly seven minutes. She then rose again as something monstrous.

The Curse:

The experimental procedures to keep her Alive (details still classified) transformed her into an undead entity driven by an insatiable hunger for living flesh and blood, which temporarily restores her decaying, burned tissues. Her original personality fragments remain trapped inside: she occasionally speaks in a soft, broken French accent, hums lullabies, or calls out to long-dead comrades — moments that quickly give way to violent hunger.

Behavior:

She haunts battlefields, ruined hospitals, and places of suffering, luring victims with mimicry and setting cruel traps.

Current State (2026)

After more than 80 years, Belle is a feared legend known as “The Smiling Nurse” or “La Bellesse Morte.” Intelligent and strategic, she selectively targets those who remind her of her past trauma — especially idealistic young soldiers or medical personnel — blending remnants of her caring nature with eternal, tragic hunger.
