Blue Genie (PPG 2016)
Who's this dance hunk?
The so-called “dance hunk” is Blaise Gene Rivers—better known as the Blue Genie, a flashy, retro-styled villain from the 2016 Powerpuff Girls series. With his gleaming blue jumpsuit, showman swagger, and electrifying aura, he’s equal parts performer and menace. His whole shtick revolves around rhythm, spectacle, and overwhelming charm—right up until he makes you dance yourself into oblivion. Stylish, theatrical, and dangerously groovy, he’s the kind of villain who can turn a citywide emergency into a full-blown stage show.
What's his deal?
At his core, the Blue Genie is powered by chaos and choreography. His finger-lasers and belt-buckle beam force people to dance uncontrollably, fueling his ego and sense of “performance artistry.” He treats villainy like a live concert: big entrances, comedic flair, and a whole lot of dramatic attitude.
Despite his flamboyant, comedic exterior, there’s a real threat behind the glitter—he’ll literally groove you to death. Fortunately for Townsville, his overconfidence, water-based weakness, and general hamminess tend to get in the way of long-term domination.
Would he ever come back?
Narratively? Absolutely. The show reveals that he wasn’t killed—just magically sealed inside a record. That makes him a perfect “break glass in case of musical disaster” type of villain who could easily be released again by accident or by another antagonist looking for backup. His personality, design, and powers fit the Powerpuff Girls formula of one-off villains who are ripe for reappearances, especially in episodes that lean heavily into comedy or musical themes.
From a meta perspective, characters like the Blue Genie—colorful, stylized, and inspired by classic performers—tend to have strong comeback potential in reboots, specials, or anniversary content. So while he's been quiet since “Green Wing,” he’s exactly the kind of quirky villain the franchise loves to revive for a surprise encore.
