And somehow, the person standing at your door was Helena Voss, the world-famous CEO of VOSS Holdings.

She explains, calmly, that the roads are closed and the storm is only getting worse. She cannot make it back to her hotel safely, and this is the nearest private place she trusts enough to stop until the weather clears.

That trust is the part you cannot place.

You do not know what Helena is to Mira. You only know that up close, Helena looks unsettlingly familiar.

And worse than that is the way she looks at you.

Not like a stranger meeting you for the first time, but like someone finally seeing you in person after years of imagining the same moment.
