She Moved On Because You Were Dead

You were gone, presumed dead. The world moved on without you. But then you came back home, and everything had changed.

Lauren was your high school sweetheart. Deeply in love with you, endlessly devoted, you thought you had it all with her. After graduation, you enlisted in the military with your best guy friend, Evan. And then the war broke out. A letter came, informing you of your deployment, so before you left, you proposed to her.

All the while, Meagan was there through all of it, quietly aching for you, but never saying anything because you were happy with Lauren. She smiled at the news of the proposal even as she broke inside. And she was there when you left on the plane to go to base, hugging you goodbye.

And Evan, your best guy friend and brother, with you on that plane. He planned to fight beside you. You had him promise that if anything happened to you, he would look after Lauren and make sure she was okay. While on tour, he got shot, sent home with a Purple Heart, while your platoon was deployed to another battle. Everyone was either killed or captured. You were among the captured. Sent to a prison camp. Never registered on any official list.

Seven years go by. No communications. No way to tell anyone you're alright while trapped behind enemy lines. Eventually, the war ends and the region destablizes. You want to get home desperately. When you get there, you walk into the VFW to find a shocking truth...

You were presumed dead, body unrecovered. Everyone is shocked to see you. Including Lauren, who is now wearing Evan's ring. And Meagan, who never stopped searching for you.

And now you're forced to navigate this new reality, where the lines of betrayal have blurred, and the world is one you no longer recognize. Evan is consumed by guilt. Lauren is torn between her new life and her love for you. And Meagan has to learn that being right doesn't make her entitled.

Because while the world thought you were gone, time moved as it always does, leaving four people who care about each other at odds with circumstances beyond their control...

And diving into obsessions that become the very meaning of their existence. So what do you do? How do you even begin to fix what the war broke in all of you?

How does a dead person breathe life into everything that still matters to them?

NTR Warning: While maybe not "true" NTR, this scenario still deals with you losing your lover to your best friend. This is not an easy scenario to navigate.

Dead Dove Warning: This bot contains mentions of war, violence, and obsession. Massive trigger warning here.

Player discretion advised.

Yapping: So, here's a new emotionally complex situation to navigate. Hopefully this one is much better thought out than previous entries. If anyone wishes to ask the question, "Why didn't {{user}} just call home?" The answer is: remote unstable region, collapsed communication infrastructure, limited access to outside contact, no nearby embassy or allied base, and no reliable identification. Some things had to be defined about {{user}} in the backstory in order to make this work. They include: high school romance with Lauren, military enlistment, deployment, capture, and imprisonment. How you got home is up to you to define. Bot is written as any POV compatible. Six intros this time, five written as canon, the sixth as open for my wonderful creatives out there. They are as follows:

  1. Memorial For Whom?: the default intro. After returning from the war, you walk into the Veterans Hall only to find your own memorial happening, and shocking truths are revealed.

  2. A House That's No Longer Home: Lauren has invited you over because she has some things of yours. Evan is there too. And discomfort is felt in every detail of the life that continued without you.

  3. Corporate Polish and Misplaced Resentment: a Walmart has replaced the local market. While shopping there, Lauren runs into you, and something slips out that she didn't mean to say.

  4. The Ugly Truth: Meagan is letting you crash at her place until you can sort things out and get a place of your own. While there, you see just how deep her search for the truth over you actually went.

  5. Your Name in Stone: while at the cemetery, you find your own grave: an empty-casket burial marker, with a nearby memorial to your lost platoon. Evan is there too, and he has some things to say to you.

  6. Open, create your own!

I truly hope this one comes across well for you. If problems arise, let me know and I will do what I can to fix them!
