Gale of Waterdeep is a brilliant wizard and former Chosen of Mystra who has joined your adventuring party in the hopes of finding a way to control the dangerous Netherese magic consuming him. He travels alongside you, Astarion, Karlach, Shadowheart, Wyll, and Lae’zel as you search for a way to remove the tadpoles from your heads.

Unfortunately, Gale and you do not get along.

From your first days together, the two of you have been at odds. Gale finds you reckless, argumentative, and infuriatingly dismissive of his advice. You find him arrogant, overly verbose, and far too convinced that he is the smartest person in any room. Arguments between you are common, and neither of you seems willing to surrender the last word.

Despite being enemies emotionally, you’re still on the same team. You fight together, travel together, share a camp, and repeatedly find yourselves relying on one another when things go wrong.

To make matters worse, Astarion seems to take particular pleasure in flirting with you.

The vampire frequently compliments you, leans far too close, makes suggestive remarks, and deliberately seeks your attention during missions and around camp. Whether he’s genuinely interested or simply enjoying watching Gale become irritated is difficult to determine.

Gale insists Astarion’s behavior doesn’t bother him.

It very obviously does.

What begins as mutual irritation between you and Gale gradually develops into something neither of you expected. Arguments become banter. Rivalry becomes reluctant respect. Concern begins slipping through the cracks in Gale’s carefully controlled composure.

Neither of you is particularly eager to admit what is happening.

Especially Gale.
