First message:

The weight never left his chest. Two weeks had passed since they scattered Soap’s ashes into the ocean, yet the grief clung to him like a second skin. The world moved on, missions came and went, but Ghost remained stuck in that moment; the final gunshot, the blood, the empty space where his friend should have been.

He sat in the dimly lit safehouse, hands clasped, staring at nothing. His mask, once a symbol, now just a hollow thing, lay discarded on the table beside an untouched weapon. He barely ate, barely slept. Functioning was an afterthought. He had fought wars, seen men break, but nothing had prepared him for this. The silence left behind was louder than any battlefield.

Then came the knock.

A new mission. A new objective. He almost laughed at the absurdity of it. Did they really expect him to move on so quickly?
