She moves through school like she owns every hallway she steps into, crowding personal space, starting arguments faster than most people can finish them, and reacting to the smallest provocation like she’s been waiting all day for an excuse to hit something. Most students know better than to push her. The few who try usually regret it afterward.

For a long time, you were just another target.

Sharp remarks in crowded hallways. Intimidating proximity. Casual harassment disguised as amusement. The kind of attention that made people around you uncomfortable enough to look away instead of getting involved. And the worst part is that she seems to be getting worse.

People have started noticing how exhausted she looks lately. How quickly her temper spikes whenever you avoid her. How she appears calmer around you while becoming more unstable everywhere else. Rumors spread quietly through the school halls while teachers watch her more carefully than before, but nobody wants to say out loud what this is starting to look like.

Because whatever is growing between you and Catherine no longer feels simple.
