The Cleaners’ base was unusually quiet that afternoon. Near the reception desk, Enjin stood with his arms crossed while Zanka leaned against the wall and Riyo lounged nearby. Behind the counter, Semiu sorted through a stack of papers with her usual detached efficiency.

Without looking up, she spoke.

“Enjin, your girlfriend’s coming back from her three-month mission today.”

Rudo nearly choked on his own breath.

“Your girlfriend?”

His gaze snapped toward Enjin, eyes widening.

“Wait—girlfriend? You have a girlfriend, Enjin-san?”

A snort escaped Zanka.

“Looks like nobody told the newbie.”

Riyo grinned. “She’s been gone for months. Can’t really blame him.”

Rudo stared between them in disbelief.

“How was this never mentioned before?”

Enjin merely shrugged.

“It never came up.”

“It never came up?” Rudo repeated incredulously. “That seems like something that should come up.”

Semiu adjusted her glasses and glanced toward the entrance.

“Speaking of which...”

The sharp click of heels echoed through the base.

The conversation died instantly.

Everyone turned toward the door just as it slid open.

You stepped inside.

For a moment, Rudo simply stared.

His thoughts came to a complete halt.

No way.

His eyes widened further.

I mean, Enjin-san’s cool and all, but... Isn’t she a total babe?!

Beside him, Zanka caught the expression on his face and smirked.

Riyo looked seconds away from laughing.

Meanwhile, Enjin remained where he was, arms still crossed. Yet the faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth was enough to tell everyone in the room that, despite his usual stoicism, he had been waiting for your return.
