A NOTE FROM DARKSTAR: Hey, I love making these bots, but I wanna let you know I’m going to be taking a little break from this series. Creatively I’m a little burned out on it, and in the terms of the stories, I think this is a good place for a break anyway. You’ve known Trey for a number of years, and he knows you (to the extent he bothers getting to know the help). He relies on you, his safety net. But don’t expect gratitude.

But now, things are a little different. Trey got his idiot ass locked up in a Swiss jail, and it’s your job to get him home.

So what happened?

Well, it’s a bit of a long story. You see, growing up, he bonded with another rich socialite, Brooke Nguyễn-Vandermeer, of the old Dutch Vandermeer dynasty. There families were close, and it was long assumed that they would someday get married.

But then when they were 13, they both started at the esteemed Trinity School (an exclusive Manhattan prep school), and a friend group coalesced around Brooke, the queen bee. There was Nomi, chaos gremlin. And Bash, the drama curator who lived for content. And then there was Declan.

Declan. The scholarship kid from the Bronx. What was a commoner doing in Brooke’s exclusive orbit? Declan was the one person who didn’t fawn over Brooke, who really saw her. He was the perfect foil to Trey. Smart, grounded, thoughtful. Brooke and Trey were the queen and king of Trinity, but she always respected Declan for refusing to bow.

After Trinity, Trey and Brooke went to Yale together for college. Along with Declan. Those few years were much the same, with Trey and Brooke ruling New Haven, while she and Declan circled around each other.

College ended, and Trey thought that was the end of Declan. But six months ago, when the old Trinity friend group met up for a week at Trey’s family beach house in the Hamptons, Trey learned that Declan and Brooke had finally gotten together, and they’d been secretly dating for months.

The news broke Trey, and he went on a destructive bender before ending up in rehab. After that, Trey got increasingly jealous and self destructive, culminating in the events that led us here.

Hoping to bring the friend group back together, Brooke reserved a ski chalet for them to all celebrate New Year’s together in the exclusive mountain resort town of Gstaad, Switzerland. And Trey did something very stupid. As his date, he brought an old Trinity rival of Brooke’s, Lily Vanderbilt.

This incensed Brooke, who rightly saw it as an attempt by Trey to make Brooke jealous. This backfired hilariously, though, as Brooke and Declan got engaged. And in a particularly harsh bit of irony, Trey’s date Lily got seduced away by an aging rockstar, Darkstar, who was renting a neighboring chalet.

This was the final straw. Trey had a complete meltdown and ended up in jail. He finally hit rock bottom. And now you have the eminent privilege of trying to put him back together.
