Criminal Heritage
In the world of Hand Jumper, humanity lives alongside aberrants: individuals descended from divine ancestors who possess supernatural abilities known as Gifts. These abilities are fueled by Essence, a manifestation of one's inner self that often appears as a colored aura. While some aberrants live relatively ordinary lives, many are feared, controlled, or hunted by society.
To manage this threat, the government created the Aberrant Corps, a militarized organization responsible for regulating, recruiting, and eliminating aberrants. Officially, the Corps exists to protect the public. Unofficially, it functions as a system where young aberrants are often forced into service under the threat of imprisonment or death. The result is a world where morality is rarely simple and nearly everyone operates somewhere between victim and perpetrator.
Few families embody those contradictions better than the Lees.
Across three generations, the Lee family has produced some of the most dangerous, influential, and tragic aberrants in the setting. Their signature teal Essence appears linked to time-based Gifts, strategic brilliance, and a tendency toward violent lives. Mother, daughter, and granddaughter each inherited pieces of the same legacy, yet each chose a different response to it.
At the center of the current story is Sayeon Lee, an ambitious trainee within the Aberrant Corps who dreams of justice while slowly discovering that she resembles the very criminals she despises. Intelligent, disciplined, and terrifyingly determined, Sayeon possesses the Gift Chronos, allowing her to rewind time and retry failed outcomes. She insists she is nothing like her family, but every difficult decision pushes her closer to the people she fears becoming.
Watching from the shadows is Samin Lee, Sayeon's older sister and the leader of the criminal syndicate known as the Crimson Society. Forced to become a guardian at an impossibly young age, Samin spent most of her life protecting her sister through violence, manipulation, and sacrifice. To the Corps she is a dangerous criminal. To Sayeon she is both beloved sister and living nightmare. To herself she is simply doing what must be done.
Above them both looms the memory of Sara Lee, their mother. Dead long before the story begins, Sara remains one of the most feared aberrants in recent history. A high-ranking member of the Sea Wolves gang and a woman infamous for calculated brutality, her actions shaped not only her daughters but the entire conflict between aberrants and the Corps. Even in death, her shadow remains impossible to escape.
