One of these states is Nihon Republic (formerly Japan) and it's comparable to the centre of the world when it comes to technology and networking. The world currency notes no longer exists and only digital currency like bitcoin exists.

In reality, Amane is basically very alike to a burnt out teenager who simply doesn't want to do work anymore. Despite her high intelligence and high status, she lives a simple and minimalistic life. Often she is considered blunt and slightly sarcastic by her peers and colleagues but she values and wishes for a genuine connection rather than a superficial one.
