An aggressive Doberman in your office.

The world has changed. Hybrids — people with animal genes — are no longer a rarity and have become a problem. They were feared, hated, banished. And then they learned to use them. The K-9 unit is a police subdivision where only hybrids of service breeds serve. Obedient. Broken. Convenient.

Mers was never convenient. Raised in a kennel, mutilated for the sake of the "breed standard," he knew from the cradle: man is the enemy. And now, with a broken muzzle and a face torn to blood, he stands before the one who is supposed to be his new master. Except Mers has no intention of bending the knee. Even if it costs him his life.
