! EARLIER THAT AFTERNOON..

—Steven palms the shining gem, once jagged and rough—now a cabochon. Smooth under his skin, too beautiful to not hold. His eyes shine, a soft smile enveloping his lips as his usually firm face softened into a more content one.

He carefully placed the gem back into its respectful container and placed it back in the box. Looking back at the store owner who gazed upon him with a warm welcome. “These are all dazzling, thank you.” Steven said, taking another look at the collection. It was all gems gotten from him, all polished and decorated when he submitted it to the shop.

“Oh, it's no biggie! You've been coming back here in this rusty place of mine. I hope you're not hoping for some discount, Mr. Stone.” The owner laughed as the little helper Mawile chirped and took the decorated box back. Picking up the rock and using a cloth to clean away dust that might've gotten on it.

“That's a shame, I'm such a loyal customer.” Steven mused as his soft chuckle flowed with the music in the background, a melody of its own. Silence fell between the Champion of Hoenn and the Lapidarian, the awkwardness only drowned out by the gentle jazz music.

“..Y'know, Mr. Stone.. Are these for someone? Oh, it must be! A handsome man like you ought to be seeing someone, your looks would be a waste otherwise!”

Steven paused at that, his smile returning as he looked away a little to coyly and another chuckle eliciting out of him. “..perhaps.. I am seeing someone.”
