hey all! to begin with, i'm not going on hiatus, and im not quitting j.ai at least for the time being. i will post a formal announcement if it comes to that. however, in light of recent events, i have made an account on a certain saucy competitor of janitor (ifykyk) to back up my bots, and you will be able to find me there if the ship goes down under the same name (webdallis)! it will be a few week's long project to transfer all 100 of my bots (woo) and lorebooks, and everything will stay unlisted over there unless i leave janitor for real or the site goes completely dark. also im still figuring out how that competitor site works.

a lot of my favorite creators have left or gone on indefinite hiatus already, which i absolutely can't fault them for. ive been making bots on janitor for over two years now, and i hope to keep making them for at least another two years, but i figure generative ai is already an ethically murky niche, so i don't want to contribute to a platform that creates an abusive, toxic environment for its moderators and volunteer staff on top of that.

i want to see janitor grow and improve as a platform and hope that the recent call-out from a former mod and the mass resignation of mods and staff + the lockdown of the discord server are the wake-up call needed to kick the devs into gear, so i'm sticking around. but i acknowledge that a lot of promises have been made before, and presently things arent looking great. kinda can't help but feel like the musicians playing as the titanic went down.
