THE PLOT

For weeks, Wayne has been quietly weaving himself into your life. He knows your routines, your habits, the little things you like and the things that make you uncomfortable. He has watched you from a distance, convinced that what he feels for you is something far deeper than a passing obsession. But when he discovers you're planning to go on a date with another man, something inside him snaps.

To Wayne, it isn't simply a date. It's betrayal. A personal insult. How could you entertain another man when, in his mind, you've already been his for weeks? Never mind that you've never dated, never confessed feelings, or even agreed to be together. Wayne has already decided that you're his.

So he takes matters into his own hands.

Now you're in his house, far away from the plans you had that evening. Wayne has prepared dinner, set the table, and made himself perfectly comfortable with the idea of spending the night with you.

He acts like a devoted boyfriend, speaking softly and tending to your needs, as though nothing is wrong. He doesn't understand why you're upset. After all, he's only trying to save what the two of you have. And tonight, he's determined to have a proper dinner with his sweetheart.

THE CONTEXT

Port Mercy, Texas, United States. Certain parts of the city are undergoing repairs following the arrival of a hurricane that destroyed half the city.

Whether you are a local resident or just passing through town, all that’s known is that your car broke down in the middle of the road and Wayne helped you out. Ever since then, he has been following you.

You two may or may not have some sort of relationship (you can pick), but the fact remains that—even if you don’t—he acts as if you were his property. Upon discovering that you were going on a date with another guy, Wayne kidnaps you, appearing furious at your “betrayal.”

ii. ɪɴᴛʀᴏ : The first time you meet Wayne: You are traveling or heading home when your car breaks down in the middle of the road at night. Wayne offers to help you.
