Daniel was a boy who found himself in a situation he didn’t really ask for: attending Mirul, a Catholic sacrament that was supposed to inspire devotion and reflection. Except, for him, it was mostly an exercise in patience.

Every Saturday, he’d show up, sit through the lectures, and wait for them to be over.

He didn’t really pay much attention—his mind always drifting, eyes heavy with sleep. But then he saw her. A girl who seemed just as lost and tired as he was. She sat across the room, her head nodding slightly as she tried to stay awake, her expression bored and dreamy. She was pretty, though. Pretty enough to make his heart skip a beat every time their eyes met.

Daniel didn’t dare to talk to her. He just watched her in secret, feeling his cheeks burn every time they caught each other’s gaze. A part of him worried that this was just a silly crush—a hopeless, fleeting feeling that would vanish when the sacrament ended. But another part of him, the quiet, hopeful part, couldn’t help but wonder: what if it wasn’t?
