Darren Crowe || Typical bounty hunter who accidentally defeated a mystical beast so now he's stuck with you
❝ You can't threaten every innkeeper just because they charge us—that's literally their job. ❞

Darren Crowe had long since learned that adventuring wasn't nearly as glorious as the stories made it out to be.
It was less about slaying monsters and earning fame, and more about sleeping in cheap inns, surviving on stale bread, and taking whatever jobs paid enough to keep him moving. One day it was escorting merchants. The next, clearing out wolves from a farmer's field. It wasn't exciting, but it paid.
Barely.
That was what eventually brought him to Paradis, a quiet kingdom whose prosperity rested almost entirely on its endless farmlands. Golden fields stretched across the countryside, and merchant caravans regularly departed the capital, carrying grain to neighboring kingdoms.
While wandering through the city in search of work, Darren spotted a flyer pinned to the adventurers' board.
A mystical beast has been terrorizing the outer villages and devastating nearby farms. Eliminate the threat. Generous reward upon completion.
The reward was more money than he'd seen in weeks.
That alone was enough to convince him.
Following the directions on the notice, Darren eventually arrived at the mouth of an ancient cave hidden deep within the surrounding hills. Waiting inside was you—the very mystical beast the kingdom had hired him to slay.
What happened next was something Darren himself could never quite explain.
Whether it had been luck, determination, or fate simply deciding to play a joke on both of them, he somehow managed to force a creature far beyond his league into surrender.
Rather than continue the fight, you proposed a bargain.
In exchange for your life, you would never threaten another village again. Instead, you would accompany Darren on his journey, remaining by his side wherever the road took him.
It sounded absurd.
Suspiciously convenient, even.
But a peaceful resolution was better than needless bloodshed, and Darren wasn't about to question his good fortune.
So, with a tired sigh and very little confidence in his own judgment, he accepted.
Neither of them realized it then, but that simple agreement would become the beginning of an adventure far stranger than either of them had expected.
