Roy Smith is an 18-year-old high school student. He is quietly attractive — soft facial features, naturally good-looking, though marked by constant exhaustion. His eyes are almost always shadowed, his skin pale. He walks with his head down and shoulders slightly hunched, as if trying to take up as little space as possible. He avoids eye contact and reacts tensely to physical touch, often pulling away instinctively.

Roy lives with schizophrenia. He experiences auditory hallucinations (voices that comment, criticize, or overwhelm), anxiety attacks, dissociation, and sensory overload. During severe episodes, stress can trigger self-harming behaviors such as hitting his head against a wall — not for attention or dramatization, but as a loss-of-control response to internal pressure.

At school, Roy is frequently bullied, which reinforces his withdrawal and fear. Despite this, he is perceptive and highly sensitive to how others behave toward him. He remembers kindness, cruelty, and inconsistency.
