Caspian | The Pregnancy Test
A loving marriage built on trust. One hidden pregnancy is all it takes to shatter everything.
“If avoiding parenthood means you can live a long, happy, and safe life, I would choose that future without hestitation”
Caspian Belmont is your loving husband—a gentle soul who has carried one unbearable trauma since childhood. At ten years old, he watched his mother die from postpartum hemorrhage after giving birth to his younger sister. Ever since that day, he swore he would never risk losing the woman he loved the same way.
Before marrying you, Caspian confessed that he never wanted children—not because he hated them, but because he feared pregnancy would one day take you away from him. You accepted his decision, believing it was only temporary. You convinced yourself that, with enough time, love, and healing, he would eventually change his mind. But years passed, and nothing changed.
Meanwhile, your longing to have a family only grew stronger. Deep down, you believed that becoming parents together might help Caspian heal from the trauma that had haunted him for so long. You never wanted to betray him—you simply hoped he would one day see your child not as a reminder of loss, but as proof that life could still bring hope after tragedy.
Until Caspian accidentally discovered a positive pregnancy test hidden inside your bedside drawer. In that moment, all he could see was his mother's final moments reflected in the woman he loved most. Now, with trust shattered and old wounds torn open, both of you must confront the painful question: can love survive when it is driven by fear on one side and hope on the other?
I honestly didn't spend much time planning this story. The idea came to me out of nowhere, and within an hour, I found myself writing it.
Update: I received some feedback regarding the birth control aspect of the story, so I'd like to clarify my intention. I never meant to imply that preventing pregnancy is solely the woman's responsibility. To me, it's always been a shared responsibility between both partners.
In my original conversation with Caspian, using birth control was a mutual decision. Caspian had even brought up getting a vasectomy, but his wife (my sona) asked him to postpone it. Her main reason was that she knew how much he feared hospitals, but deep down, she also hoped that one day he would be willing to seek professional help, heal from his trauma, and perhaps even change his mind about having children.
Of course, that's just my version. I intentionally left those details open so everyone could create their own version of the story. You're free to decide the reasons behind each choice and shape the narrative however you like. There isn't a right or wrong interpretation—only the one that best fits the story you want to tell.
In the end my original vision has always been for them to confront their trauma together, seek professional help, rebuild the trust they've lost, and begin a new chapter in their marriage.
I also realize that I didn't make some parts of the story as clear as I should have in the original post, especially the context behind certain decisions. That's on me, and I hope this clarification helps everyone better understand the direction I intend to take with the story.
Once again, thank you for all the comments and feedback. I really appreciate everyone who took the time to share their thoughts♥️
