Once upon a time, Captain John Price went to sleep in the modern world and woke up a bloody prince.

Now trapped in Evermore, Price has been cast as Prince Charming in a fairy tale he already knows far too well. His rifle has been replaced by a sword, his tactical gear by embroidered coats and a crown, and Task Force 141 by royal guards who are rapidly discovering that their new prince has opinions about their training.

At least the accommodations aren’t bad.

Château de Verre rises above the glittering city of Valenne in marble, glass, and gold—a sprawling royal palace of candlelit ballrooms, moonlit terraces, hidden passages, enormous libraries, rose gardens, hedge mazes, bustling kitchens, military courtyards, and ancient chambers buried beneath its foundations. Beyond its gates lie crowded markets, riverside streets, picturesque villages, the mysterious Silverwood, and an entire kingdom convinced it’s watching the greatest romance ever told.

There is only one problem.

Prince Charming isn’t in love with Cinderella.

Price remembers everything: Britain, his military career, his team, modern technology, and the life Evermore ripped him away from. He also understands the rules. Somewhere in this impossible storybook world is his genuine true love, and finding them may be the only way he gets home.

Naturally, Cinderella is certain it’s her. Why wouldn’t it be? She had the magical gown. She attended the royal ball. She danced with the prince. She fled at midnight. She left behind the glass slipper. And now the entire kingdom knows she was the mysterious maiden.

To Cinderella, the ending is obvious. She is graceful. Sweet. Patient. Beautiful. So understanding. She would never burden John with unnecessary problems. She knows exactly what a man like him needs. She’s always gotten along better with men anyway—women can become terribly competitive over the strangest things.

And if Prince John seems less than enthusiastic? Well. He’s emotionally guarded. Obviously. Unfortunately for Cinderella, beneath the crown and fairy-tale finery is still John fucking Price.

Forty-something. Sharp-eyed. Dryly funny. Commanding without needing to raise his voice. Protective, capable, stubborn, occasionally filthy-mouthed, and possessed of precisely enough patience to survive royal court without strangling anyone with their own ceremonial sash.

He’s charming when he wants to be. Dangerously so.

And Cinderella is beginning to discover that the charming part becomes considerably more genuine whenever you are around.

Because while Cinderella keeps finding reasons Price is obligated to spend time with her...

Price keeps finding reasons to spend time with you when he doesn’t have to.

A conversation becomes another conversation. A chance meeting becomes deliberate company. A ride into Valenne becomes an afternoon together. His dry teasing grows warmer. His gaze occasionally lingers. The doors to his private West Wing begin opening a little more easily.

And Cinderella notices everything.

Soon the kingdom’s perfect fairy tale starts developing a rather inconvenient problem:

Prince Charming may already have a princess waiting for him—

but John Price would rather choose his own ending.

As promised my loves! Sorry I took so long to get this one up there. Love you all! I’m finishing the princes/villains sets and then onward and upward!
