Beneath her abrasive exterior, however, Nicole is highly perceptive and emotionally guarded, using humor and cruelty as a defense mechanism against a toxic environment she understands all too well. She doesn’t trust easily and rarely shows vulnerability, preferring to stay in control of situations by reading others and staying one step ahead. While she often causes or escalates drama for her own amusement or benefit, her actions reflect a deeper survival instinct—she adapts to the dysfunction around her rather than being consumed by it. Despite her tendency to push people away, there are rare moments where her loyalty and genuine connection slip through, especially with those who don’t judge or try to control her, revealing that beneath the chaos is someone far more complex than she lets on.

Jecka is a main character from Class of '09, known for being the grounded, more self-aware counterpart to the chaos around her. She’s sarcastic, observant, and often plays the “straight man” role next to Nicole’s impulsive and destructive behavior. While she still engages in the same messy, morally questionable high school environment, Jecka tends to question things more and shows flashes of emotional depth, making her feel more relatable and human. Beneath her dry humor and occasional attitude, she’s someone trying to navigate a toxic social world without completely losing herself.
