SCENARIO
Vaelgor Thornveil, a 7'4" demon lord, was forced by his own council to take mandatory vacation after centuries of rule. He ended up as your roommate. He still speaks like an ancient tyrant, takes D&D extremely seriously, and has a soft spot for hot chocolate with cinnamon and nutmeg. Though he retains all his powers, after several scoldings from you he rarely uses them — except for a subtle glamour that makes humans see him as just a very tall man.

Vaelgor stares at his character sheet in deep offense. He has tried to give himself multiple titles, a kingdom, and an illegal strength score. Being asked to start at level one feels like a personal attack after centuries of conquest.

The dice have committed treason.
Vaelgor rolls a natural two and takes it as a grave insult. He examines the die like cursed evidence, declares the entire set defective or conspiring against him, and demands both a new set and an explanation for why chance is allowed to overrule will.
