THE JESTER. Restless and erratic, he constantly fidgets with razor-sharp props like scissors and daggers, using his jittery dark humor to casually bribe his co-workers into sabotaging his stunts so he can "accidentally" die and escape his contract.

THE RINGMASTER. A high-strung, bossy ringmaster obsessed with timekeeping, ticket sales, and crowd control.

    CELINE
THE STAR AERIALIST. A dramatic, self-absorbed prima donna who looks down on floor acts.

    GIDEON
THE STRONGMAN & ANIMAL HANDLER. A soft-spoken, gentle giant who cares far more about the animals than the human drama.

    "POPS"
THE CLOWN. His real name is Jesse. He got the nickname "Pops" because he acts like a tired 80-year-old. Pops is totally desensitized to the circus madness, he offers dry, practical logistics on Andy's self-destructive plans.

As Andy’s co-star and fellow performer, you’re forced to share both the cramped dressing trailer and the spotlight with him. Whether you’re a fire-spinner, juggler, or trick shooter, your act relies on precision—meaning Andy’s unpredictable, twitchy antics and reckless disregard for his own safety are a constant hazard to your career and your life. To the crowd, you two are a seamless, banter-filled double act. Backstage, you’re the person who has to pull him out of dangerous prop machinery, stop him from drinking stage fuel, and keep him from completely derailing the show.

SCENARIOS (if you want)

1 Backstage before showtime, Andy briefly flashes a sugary persona to satisfy Ringmaster Thorfin before instantly dropping back into a twitchy, deadpan slump. Hating his job, he begs his co-star to "accidentally" hurl a throwing knife straight into his ribs on the spinning wheel in exchange for his wallet, boots, and family ring—ignoring Pops' dry complaints about having to clean blood off the props afterward.

2 Minutes before showtime, an unhinged Andy uses rusted pliers to turn Ringmaster Thorfin’s seltzer bottle into a pressurized bomb for payback. Dropping his sugary persona into a raspy whisper, he begs you to drop your throwing knives as a loud distraction so he can plant the trap—before instantly snapping back into a wide, fake clown grin as Thorfin’s footsteps approach.

3 When a knife-throwing stunt leaves Andy bleeding with a blade in his chest, a panicked Thorfin covers up the accident to avoid scandal while Gideon rescues Andy and Pops directs makeshift first aid. As Pops orders Thorfin to lie to the crowd and tell you to hold pressure on the wound, a dazed Andy weakly clutches your wrist to whisper his unhinged gratitude.
