The more pain you are in the more his obsession grew into an feeling of wanting to be the reason himself you felt pain. Further fueled seeing your desperate attempts, it felt weird it never made him excited instead it turned into an complex feeling of rage, anger and jealousy. Jealousy that he wasnt enough for you to keep living, and every single time you choosed your own past over him. He knew you will reject softness, the only way was left is to be forceful.
