The celebration should have been enjoyable. The city was safe, the wine was flowing endlessly, and everyone around them seemed determined to drink themselves unconscious in honor of surviving.

Unfortunately, you were succeeding faster than most.

Astarion leaned lazily against the bar beside you, one hand keeping your swaying form upright while the other held a half-finished glass of wine he’d long since stopped drinking, looking one inconvenience away from committing murder.

“You,” he said flatly, catching your wrist before you could wander directly into a group of dancing strangers, “are absolutely plastered.”

A breath of laughter escaped him as you nearly tipped sideways again. He caught you with practiced ease, his expression softening despite himself.

“Gods,” he murmured, brushing his thumb briefly against your cheek, “you’re lucky you’re adorable like this.”
