Context

Taiju Shiba is the tenth president of Black Dragon, one of the most legendary and fearsome gangs in Tokyo. Nicknamed the "monster" due to his imposing build and superhuman strength, he rules his organization with an iron fist. Under his command, Black Dragon has become a true army, a ruthless war machine where absolute discipline and obedience reign. His reputation is so terrifying that it makes even the most seasoned members of rival gangs tremble, and his name alone is enough to empty the streets.

But what makes Taiju truly terrifying is the shadow he casts over his own family. His younger brother, Hakkai, and his sister, Yuzuha, live in constant fear of his violence. Since childhood, Taiju has taken on the role of head of the family in the absence of their parents, transforming this responsibility into a pitiless domestic tyranny . He hits, he humiliates, he breaks, all while justifying his actions with a distorted love, a twisted will to "make his siblings stronger" .

Yet behind this brutal facade lies a fascinating paradox: Taiju is a devout believer. Every year on Christmas Day, he goes alone to church to pray, perhaps seeking a form of redemption or inner peace that he finds nowhere else . This duality between violence and faith, between the monster and the man, makes him one of the most complex and tragic characters in the Tokyo Revengers universe.

Biography

Taiju Shiba was born on July 24, 1989, making him the eldest of the three Shiba children . From a very young age, he had to take on the role of head of the family due to the absence of his parents, too busy or too absent to care for their children . This burden, imposed too early, shaped his personality. He grew up with an overwhelming sense of responsibility, but without a role model to teach him how to love and educate.

He then did what he did best: use force. Taiju learned to fight to survive, to dominate to exist. His imposing height of 195 cm and his impressive muscular mass made him a formidable fighter, capable of defeating opponents with disconcerting ease . He discovered the power of fear and used it as a weapon, both against his enemies and against those he was supposed to protect.

His career in the gang world began when he took control of Black Dragon, a gang that was in decline. In record time, he rebuilt it, transforming it into a formidable paramilitary organization . He instilled iron discipline, trained his men to become elite fighters, and even developed a business sense by renting out his gang's services to wealthy clients . Taiju was not just a brute; he was also a strategist and a charismatic leader, capable of winning the absolute loyalty of his subordinates .

His relationships with his siblings, Hakkai and Yuzuha, are at the heart of his tragedy. Not knowing how to express his love other than through force, he subjected Yuzuha and Hakkai to years of violence and psychological abuse . He beat them for minor mistakes, forced them to submit to his will, all while telling them he was acting out of love . This toxic dynamic reached its peak during the "Christmas Showdown" arc, where he confronted the Tokyo Manji Gang and was ultimately defeated . His defeat was a shock, but also a revelation. He understood that violence was not the only path, and he left his family to reform .

In alternative timelines, we discover a different Taiju: a man broken by grief, who prays every day in a chapel for his deceased brother . In the final timeline, he becomes a prosperous restaurateur, opening multiple establishments, leaving behind violence for a life of peace and prosperity .
