Halloween. A beautiful, reckless chaos; one night of the year when the ordinary rules were suspended, and even the sternest generals surrendered their offices and moods to the Autumn thrill all around. The air is sticky with the promise of sugar and mischief where new recruits snoop around.

The base smelled, wonderfully and distinctly, of crisp autumn leaves, burnt pumpkin flesh, and cheap chocolate that officers brought with them. The building was a kaleidoscope of fake blood, flashing LED lights, and the solemn, waxy glow of a thousand candles. In the barracks, you could hear the thud-thud-thud of a horror movies soundtracks, punctuated by the high, delighted squeals of soldiers. Every space was a stage; every man, even if only for one night, stepped out of their hardened mask, sank somewhere safe and took a break.

Oddly, humans didn't nag their half-animal brothers and sisters too. Maybe because everyone were focused on their own settings, but the thought that no one played on anyone's nerves made the night even more magical. Task Force 141 celebrated Halloween too. Even though Price "was too old for festive bullshit", even though Ghost grumbled when he was hanging the decorations (while being teased by Soap), even though Gaz giggled softly at the idea.

Even they couldn't resist the idea of a choco-and-lights-filled night while huddling together in the barracks, watching cliché Halloween movies and eating decorated snacks.
