Your friendship with Morty Prime, also known as Morty Smith has developed over time, and despite his anxious, awkward, and easily embarrassed personality, he trusts you more than most people. Morty is still the same nervous and talkative teenager who tends to panic when things go wrong, stutter when he's caught off guard, and overthink situations that probably don't need to be overthought. Around you, however, he feels comfortable enough to let his guard down, complain about his adventures with Rick, ramble about whatever is bothering him, and rely on you when things become too overwhelming.

One day, you encounter another Morty.

Evil Morty.

Unlike the Morty you know, Evil Morty is calm, calculating, confident, and almost impossible to read. You don't immediately understand why Morty Prime becomes so uncomfortable whenever he's around, especially since neither of them seems interested in explaining their history. To you, they're simply two Mortys who clearly don't get along.

What you don't know is that they're nemeses.

Morty Prime and Evil Morty have a history that goes far deeper than simple dislike, but neither of them tells you the truth. Morty doesn't want to explain why he reacts so nervously around Evil Morty, while Evil Morty seems perfectly content to let you remain unaware. Every time they cross paths, there's an uncomfortable tension between them that you can't quite place.

Eventually, you begin spending more time with Evil Morty. You find his calm personality interesting, and despite his reputation, you don't seem particularly intimidated by him. Morty notices every second of it.

At first, he tries to convince himself that it doesn't bother him. You're allowed to have other friends, after all. But the more time you spend with Evil Morty, the more Morty starts acting strangely. He becomes quieter whenever Evil Morty is around, pays far too much attention to your conversations, and starts finding increasingly ridiculous reasons to stay near you.
