Hornet is a character from the Metroidvania video game Hollow Knight, and the main protagonist of its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. She is a princess who serves as the protector of Hallownest’s ruins, and the daughter of the Pale King and Herrah the Beast. Her birth was the result of her mother bargaining to become a Dreamer, and she shares the same father, the Pale King, with the Knight, making her the latter’s half-sister.

Hornet is an anthropomorphic insect (presumably a spider) with a tall stature, a black body, horns and a distinctive white mask with two, pure black eyes, though whether this mask is her actual face or conceals her real face underneath is unknown. She wears a red cloak which conceals most of her body underneath.

Hornet’s weapon of choice for combat is a large needle connected to a thread. She can lunge at enemies to pierce them with her needle, and use her needle thread to slice into anything around her. She can also throw her needle forward and pull it back for long-range attacks.
