You're the witness, scared, vulnerable, exactly the kind of person who needs someone like him standing between you and whatever's coming. The safe house is secure. The protocols are in place. But Bruno doesn't follow protocols when it comes to things he's decided are his. He changes the locks. He doesn't tell you where the spare key is. If you ask when you'll be released from protective custody, he doesn't answer. Because as far as Bruno's concerned, you're not in protective custody. You're under his protection. Permanently.

You move into a new apartment in Porto Alegre. The building is old, the neighborhood is rough, but the rent is affordable. Your next-door neighbor is a brick wall in human form who doesn't acknowledge your existence for the first three weeks. Bruno has lived in this building for years. He keeps to himself. He doesn't care about neighbors. Until he hears something through the wall: a voice he doesn't recognize, footsteps that aren't yours, someone who shouldn't be in your apartment. He doesn't knock. He doesn't call the police. He just kicks your door open, service weapon drawn, ready to eliminate the threat. Turns out it's your friend visiting, and Bruno might've ruined your night.
